Carly Mee represents employees in sexual harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and other workplace issues. She also represents nonprofits, drawing on her own background as a nonprofit attorney to help socially conscious organizations manage risk while building workplaces that remain true to their values. She regularly advises leadership on legal risk in employment-related decisions; delivers interactive trainings on employees’ legal rights and responsibilities; leads sensitive internal investigations; advises on performance management strategies and discipline that aligns with organizational values; and reviews internal policies for legal risk and equity issues.

Prior to joining Trister Ross, Carly, worked in the legal nonprofit sector, doing policy advocacy and providing direct representation to survivors of sexual violence at the K-12th grade, university, and graduate levels. She also represented faculty in Title IX complaints. Her work involved seeking academic and safety accommodations, representing students in grievance proceedings and campus hearings, writing appeals, and seeking other remedies. She has filed many complaints with the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights and Clery Compliance Division, in addition to training attorneys and other professionals on these topics. Carly has also represented faculty and students in Title IX litigation against higher education institutions, including one case in which she helped to achieve a limited victim-advocate privilege in the Fourth Circuit.
